An engagement session aimed at improving the management of research instruments in Malaysian public and private universities was held on October 15, 2024, at the Royal Chulan Georgetown Hotel, Penang.
The session, hosted and organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Foo Kai Loong and Dr. Mohamad Faris Mohamad Fathil. Among the topics discussed were significant challenges or obstacles in maximizing the research potential at Malaysian public universities, such as inefficiencies in resource allocation, lack of maintenance funding, and the absence of a comprehensive monitoring system.
Addressing these challenges through systemic reforms and strategic investment is crucial to advancing the research and innovation agenda. This session was part of a Short-Term Study funded by the Ministry of Economy, led by UiTM.
